PRELIMINARY SCHEDLE OF EVENTS

Approximately 149 years ago, on 5 January 1862, the Battle of Hancock took place after Union commander Brigadier General Frederick Lander refused to surrender the town to Conferderate Major General "Stonewall" Jackson's demand. Jackson continued the bombardment from Orrick's Hill for two days. Finally, on January 7th, Confederate forces withdrew and marched on Romney.
