The Course will begin at the Joseph Hancock Park, just off Main Street in the historic town of Hancock. The out-and-back course allows
participants to run west on the Western Maryland Rail Trail approximately 6.5 miles, turnaround and complete the race at the Hancock Station.
Awards will be given to the first overall female and male finisher and the top three finishers of the half marathon in the following female and male age
categories: 19 & under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+
Important Details:
All pre-registrants are guaranteed a long-sleeved t-shirt.
Race day registration welcome.
A limited number of t-shirts will be available to late registrants.
Race packet pick-up ONLY on the day of the race.
Awards presentation and refereshments follow race.
5K walk participants will receive t-shirts.
Musical devices not permitted.
Participants must be courteous of others on the Rail Trail.
Pets permitted on the trail, but not in vehicles.
The proceeds from the Western Maryland Half Marathon will benefit the ReStore of Washington County.
What is a ReStore? The proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Washington County’s ReStore initiative.
A ReStore is a retail store that accepts donations of overstocked, discontinued, new or used home improvement products donated by businesses or individuals, and re-sells these products to the general public at a substantially reduced cost. The ReStore will accomplish three key objectives: • Provides funding for Habitat for Humanity so we can increase our production of simple, decent, affordable housing in Washington County.
• Reduces costs of building materials for use in upgrading/maintaining houses for the general public.
• Reuses building materials and home products instead of dumping into landfills, which helps protect our environment.
